- Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.
- The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.
- Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.
- One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city. - Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices. - Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding,
but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly. - With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
- May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
- But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
- For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
- Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord! - For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with goodness, and goodness with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness, and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love.
- Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.
- Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
- For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.
All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
“Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.”
