- For who is God except the Lord?
And who is a rock besides our God? - You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your right hand has supported me;
your help has made me great.
You gave me a wide place for my steps under me,
and my feet did not slip. - The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge. - The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple. - The precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eyes. - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - May he grant you your heart's desire,
and fulfill all your plans. - Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God. - The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters. - Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me. - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long. - The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it. - Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory. Selah - Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths. - Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long. - Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for your goodness' sake, O Lord! - Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way. - The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid? - Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple. - I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. - Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord! - The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him. - May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace! - For his anger is but for a moment;
his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me.All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
“Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.”
