Rescue (2/3)

  • There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
  • My soul rests in God alone.
    My salvation is from him.
  • In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience,
but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
  • Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  • The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh
    is wealth, honor, and life.
  • Yahweh restored Job’s prosperity when he prayed for his friends. Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before.
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
  • This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  • Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
  • Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him one thousand years.
  • God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.
  • So then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
  • For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
  • Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
  • Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Christ, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God, of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
  • Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it.
  • That I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you, find rest.
  • But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life.
  • He was despised
    and rejected by men,
    a man of suffering
    and acquainted with disease.
    He was despised as one from whom men hide their face;
    and we didn’t respect him.
  • Now therefore let the fear of Yahweh be on you. Take heed and do it; for there is no iniquity with Yahweh our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.
  • Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted.
  • Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen, how the Christ must suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to the Gentiles.
  • Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day, which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.
  • Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

Whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.Next verse! With image
