- Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

- Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Yes, these may forget,
yet I will not forget you!
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Your walls are continually before me. - A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.
- If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

What is the son of man, that you care for him? - Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.
- Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
