- God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill? - For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
- Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. - Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,

whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? - Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
- John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
- Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
- No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
- The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

- Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
- When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. - In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
- Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”
- For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
