- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom should I dread? - Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he grows older he will not abandon it. - I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will advise you with My eye upon you. - For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend;
So that he does not abandon the fear of the Almighty. - Let me hear Your faithfulness in the morning,
For I trust in You;
Teach me the way in which I should walk;
For to You I lift up my soul. - But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be in dread.

Your faithfulness, Lord, will support me. - God is not a man, that He would lie,
Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? - For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another.
- But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.
- From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.
- “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he would turn from his ways and live?”
- The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
- Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
- And that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- But I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
- But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.

- Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

In spite of this I am confident. - For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
- For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God.
- I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God.
- Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.

- For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
- I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
- So husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
- No one is to say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.
- What is man that You think of him,
And a son of man that You are concerned about him? - No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor.
- One person values one day over another, another values every day the same. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.
- Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive apparel, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
- I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them away from the evil one.
- Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?
- For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf.
- What then? Are we to sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Far from it!
- And he would answer and say to them, “The one who has two tunics is to share with the one who has none; and the one who has food is to do likewise.”
- What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
