Should (3/4)

  • What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!
  • Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
  • He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”
  • What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
  • Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
  • If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
  • Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
  • Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.
  • Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
  • So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
  • For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.
  • I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart,
when I learn your righteous judgments.
  • Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.
  • But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
  • Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.”
  • Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous.
  • In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
  • Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • Pray like this:
‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
    Let your Kingdom come.
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
  • Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
  • You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.
  • For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
  • If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
