Spirit (2/4)

  • If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.
  • I myself did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest
is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
  • And take the helmet of salvation as well as the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  • Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • This is how we can be certain
    that we abide in him
and that he abides in us:
he has given us a share in his Spirit.
  • There is one body and one Spirit, as well as one hope to which you have been called by your vocation.
  • Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God.
Let your gracious Spirit lead me
    along a level path.

a contrite and humble heart, O God,
    you will not spurn.

  • Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.
  • Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished.

  • He cried out, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And with these words he breathed his last.

“Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can enter the kingdom of God
unless he is born of water and the Spirit.”
  • When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
  • This is the Lord’s message to Zerubbabel: Not by force, nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
  • The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.
  • Can anyone withhold the water of baptism from these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
  • For I know that through your prayers and with the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will result in deliverance for me.
  • Do not be lacking in zeal, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  • A man’s pride will bring him low,
but lowly souls will rise to honor.

Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world.
