- To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
- You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
- Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

for from it flow the springs of life. - The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
- Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
- Guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints. - The sum of your word is truth,
and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. - The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry. - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you. - Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
- As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me;
your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! - No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
- Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
- Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
- Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
