Study the scriptures (3/4)

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.Who has performed these deeds and accomplished this? Who has summoned the nations from the beginning? I, the Lord, am the first, and I will be there with the last.
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.Make every possible effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.Everyone who sins comes from the devil, for the devil has been a sinner from the very beginning. The Son of God appeared for this very purpose: to destroy the work of the devil.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has been unable to overcome it.
A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.Preferable is the little that the righteous possess than the great wealth of the wicked. For the power of the wicked will be overcome, but the Lord protects the righteous.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. The grass may wither and the flower may fade, but the word of our God will endure forever.
The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, but destruction for evildoers.
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.If the Lord does not build the house, those who construct it labor in vain. If the Lord does not guard the city, those who keep watch over it do so in vain.
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in accord with the law of the Lord.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer. However, the face of the Lord is set against those who do evil.
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.Even though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, even though the olive crop will fail and the orchards will yield no food, even though the flock is cut off from the fold and there is no herd in the stalls, I will continue to rejoice in the Lord, and exult in the God of my salvation.
The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The face of the Lord is turned against those who do evil, to erase all memory of them from the earth.
Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.Yours, O Lord, are greatness, power, glory, strength, and majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.And the one who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want.
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many.
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. The name of the Lord is a tower of strength; the upright man runs to it and finds refuge.
Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he protects the souls of his faithful ones and rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the wild animals and reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is filled with his kindness.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. There is only one thing I ask of the Lord, just one thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord and gaze on his temple.
