Chinese (traditional)- Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished.
- When they arrest you and bring you to trial, do not be concerned beforehand about what you are to say. Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit.
- Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? You have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.
- Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the world.
- After he had decided to follow this course of action, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary into your home as your wife. For this child has been conceived in her womb through the Holy Spirit.”
- After John had baptized all the people, and while Jesus was engaged in prayer after also having been baptized, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.”
- Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - What is born of the flesh is flesh,
and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. - He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
- If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.
- Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God.
- Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
- For thus says the One who is high and exalted,
who lives eternally
and whose name is holy:
I dwell in a high and holy place
but I am with the contrite and the humble,
to revive the spirit of the humble
and to revive the heart of the contrite. - You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine.
- Now this Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words.
- Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
- God is Spirit,
and those who worship him
must worship in Spirit and truth. - Bless the Lord, O my soul;
my entire being, bless his holy name. - Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard?
- The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
- However, God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God.
- In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up.
