- And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him:
THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. - For so the Lord has commanded us:
‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ - This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’
- Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
- But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
- The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed. - For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
- Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
- Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable. - Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth. - Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke? - Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
- God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him. - For the Lord is our Judge,
The Lord is our Lawgiver,
The Lord is our King;
He will save us. - The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
- The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverse mouth I hate. - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
- He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints. - Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
- For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
- Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
