- Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous run into it and are safe. - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry. - The Lord loves those who hate evil;
he guards the lives of his faithful;
he rescues them from the hand of the wicked. - To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
- The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. - The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.
His way is in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet. - Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord rescues them from them all. - One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple. - The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!” - He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. - Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
- How happy is the one whom God reproves;
therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. - This Jesus is
‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders;
it has become the cornerstone.’ - The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God.”
- Learn to do good;
seek justice,
rescue the oppressed,
defend the orphan,
plead for the widow. - But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and prosper for us the work of our hands—
O prosper the work of our hands! - Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
- Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.
- Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. - All deeds are right in the sight of the doer,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.” - Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
