- For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.
- Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.
- So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
- I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. - My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. - “For the mountains may depart
and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you. - For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
- I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me. - Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
- In you, O Lord, do I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me! - Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
- My lips will shout for joy,
when I sing praises to you;
my soul also, which you have redeemed. - No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed,
and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
and their vindication from me, declares the Lord. - And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
- And that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
For you will render to a man
according to his work. - I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous rules. - Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long. - Cast your burden on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved. - For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. - But when they had grazed, they became full,
they were filled, and their heart was lifted up;
therefore they forgot me. - For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
- Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”
- O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
