Thee (2/4)

  • Make sure that no one pays back evil for evil. Rather, always aim to achieve what is best for each other and for everyone.
  • May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you.
  • Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, is going forth with you. He will never leave you or abandon you.
  • Call to me and I will answer you and reveal to you great and mysterious secrets about which you are unaware.
  • If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
  • Their eyes were opened and they realized that they were naked. They took fig leaves and sewed them together, making themselves a covering.
  • The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
    a warrior and a savior.
    He will rejoice over you with gladness
    and renew you through his love.
    He will exult over you with shouts of joy.
  • It was for this purpose that he called you through our gospel so that you might come to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Protect me, O God,
    for in you I take refuge.
  • That is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, and they devote themselves to this service.
  • There is no holy one like the Lord,
    there is none beside you,
    nor is there a rock like our God.
  • The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
  • They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.
  • Blessed are the poor in spirit,
    for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  • For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so too do we believe that God will bring forth with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
  • How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.
  • You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time.
  • You are all-beautiful, my love,
    without the slightest blemish.
  • If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.
  • He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord.
  • The Lord, your God, will bless you as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but borrow from none. You shall rule over many nations, but none shall rule over you.
  • To you, O God of my fathers,
    I offer thanks and praise
    because you have given me wisdom and power.
    Now you have made known to me
    what we asked of you;
    you have revealed to us the king’s dream.
  • As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
    we wait for you, O Lord;
    your name and your renown
    are all that our heart desires.
  • When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
    nor will the waters engulf you.
    When you walk through fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not consume you.
  • And if then my people who bear my name humble themselves and pray to me and seek my presence as they turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their land.

O Lord, let your kindness rest upon us,
for we have placed our hope in you.
