- He has shown you, O man, what is good.
What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly,
to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
- Because your loving kindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise you.
So I will bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands in your name. - Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”
- I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. - We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another abounds.
- Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
for I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
for I lift up my soul to you. - Oh how great is your goodness,
which you have laid up for those who fear you,
which you have worked for those who take refuge in you,
before the sons of men! - Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.
- As the deer pants for the water brooks,
so my soul pants after you, God. - I will exalt you, my God, the King.
I will praise your name forever and ever. - He will not allow your foot to be moved.
He who keeps you will not slumber. - But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own.
- Arise, shine; for your light has come,
and Yahweh’s glory has risen on you! - Let your eyes look straight ahead.
Fix your gaze directly before you. - Also delight yourself in Yahweh,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. - I will be glad and rejoice in you.
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. - With my whole heart I have sought you.
Don’t let me wander from your commandments. - Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. - Save us now, we beg you, Yahweh!
Yahweh, we beg you, send prosperity now.
Blessed is he who comes in Yahweh’s name!
We have blessed you out of Yahweh’s house. - But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.
- You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore Yahweh your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
- Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.
- For the love of Christ compels us; because we judge thus: that one died for all, therefore all died. He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.
- For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God.
