A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the sake of the gospel will save it.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.Whoever observes the commandments will live, but the one who scorns them will die.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; if he closes his lips, he is regarded as intelligent.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.Wait quietly for the Lord and be patient until he comes. Do not fret over the man who prospers because of his evil schemes.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.A fool gives free rein to his anger, but a wise man bides his time and calms it.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. And whoever does not provide for relatives, especially for those who are living with him, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.A fool is quick to show his anger, but a prudent man ignores an insult.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand people were added to their number.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. Many shall be purified, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will persist in their evil ways.
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.God gave the midwives numerous families because they had feared God.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God.
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. For the love of Christ urges us forward, once we conclude that one has died for all, and therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for him who for their sakes died and was raised to life.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.Moreover, the one to whom God grants wealth and possessions and the ability to enjoy them and to find contentment in his toil receives a gift from God.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast because of their trust in you.

The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. The words of a wise man win favor, but a fool’s tongue is his undoing.
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. The entire community of believers was united in heart and soul. No one claimed any of his possessions as his own, for everything was held in common.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment.
The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life; a poor man never has to worry about such threats.
