- When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable,
But one who restrains his lips is wise. - Yet I have been the Lord your God
Since the land of Egypt;
And you were not to know any god except Me,
For there is no savior besides Me. - You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
- In that I am commanding you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, so that you may live and become numerous, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to take possession of it.
- And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
- Know that wisdom is the same for your soul;
If you find it, then there will be a future,
And your hope will not be cut off. - But You, Lord, are a shield around me,
My glory, and the One who lifts my head. - Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
- So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
- This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
- Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion, Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
- For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all who call upon You. - I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
- A person of too many friends comes to ruin,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
- Even if the fig tree does not blossom,
And there is no fruit on the vines,
If the yield of the olive fails,
And the fields produce no food,
Even if the flock disappears from the fold,
And there are no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will triumph in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. - But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
