Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity.
But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
