- And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ” - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

- In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
- The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry. - Woe to him who strives with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’? - In that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
- All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
- Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You. - Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
- My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
- Honor widows who are really widows.
- Do not turn to the right or the left;
Remove your foot from evil. - But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight. - Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
