| And whoever does not provide for relatives, especially for those who are living with him, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. | But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. |

| He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” | He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” |
| If someone says, “I love God,” but at the same time hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love the brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. | If a man says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? |
| I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be saved. He will go in and out and will find pasture. | I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out and will find pasture. |
| One who forgives a misdeed fosters friendship, but he who divulges it separates good friends. | He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends. |

| One who finds a wife finds happiness and receives favor from the Lord. | Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. |
| Jesus answered him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.” | Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” |
| A generous person will be enriched; he who refreshes others will also be refreshed. | The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself. |
| Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control. | Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint. |

| The father of a good man will rejoice; he who begets a wise son will delight in him. | The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him. |
| Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away, but when amassed little by little, it will increase. | Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow. |
