Bible Verses about 'Words'
- Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
- Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. - Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.
- Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. - The unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple. - If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
- When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable,
But one who restrains his lips is wise. - I have not failed the command of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. - The words of a gossiper are like dainty morsels,
And they go down into the innermost parts of the body. - May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. - Turn to my rebuke,
Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you. - My son, pay attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
They are not to escape from your sight;
Keep them in the midst of your heart. - Take words with you and return to the Lord.
Say to Him, “Take away all guilt
And receive us graciously,
So that we may present the fruit of our lips.” - And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
- Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- “Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,” ’ ” declares the Lord God.
- So he was there with the Lord for forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
- Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
- The sum of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments is everlasting. - These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.
- Listen, my son, and accept my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many. - A gentle answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
But the mouth of the wicked, what is perverted. - Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool,
Much less are lying lips to a prince. - May my teaching drip as the rain,
My speech trickle as the dew,
As droplets on the fresh grass,
And as the showers on the vegetation. - Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
- And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit.” And having said this, He died.
- A soothing tongue is a tree of life,
But perversion in it crushes the spirit. - Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God spoke concerning you has failed; they all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.
- A fool’s lips bring strife,
And his mouth invites beatings. - Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
- The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver,
The heart of the wicked is worth little. - Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - With his mouth the godless person destroys his neighbor,
But through knowledge the righteous will be rescued. - If, because of the Sabbath, you restrain your foot
From doing as you wish on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a pleasure, and the holy day of the Lord honorable,
And honor it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking your own pleasure
And speaking your own word,
Then you will take delight in the Lord,
And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will follow My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him.”
- Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, mend your ways, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
- Whoever is wise, let him understand these things;
Whoever is discerning, let him know them.
For the ways of the Lord are right,
And the righteous will walk in them,
But wrongdoers will stumble in them. - Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
- For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?
- This is what the Lord says:
“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
Then you will find a resting place for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” - Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent over double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she stood up straight again, and began glorifying God. But the synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “There are six days during which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does each of you on the Sabbath not untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it? And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this restraint on the Sabbath day?” And as He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.
