Worship (3/4)

  • Then Job arose, tore his robe, shaved his head, and fell on the ground and worshiped. He said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
  • In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.”
  • So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
  • And you will say in that day:
    Give thanks to the Lord,
    call on his name;
    make known his deeds among the nations;
    proclaim that his name is exalted.
  • Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God.
  • You are indeed my rock and my fortress;
    for your name's sake lead me and guide me.
  • To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
    and let your glory be over all the earth.
  • But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
  • Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
  • Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  • While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
  • To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • I will be glad and exult in you;
    I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
  • Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
  • The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
    “Hosanna to the Son of David!
    Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
    Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
  • No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
  • For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
  • The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all those who practice it have a good understanding.
    His praise endures forever.
  • To you, O God of my ancestors,
    I give thanks and praise,
    for you have given me wisdom and power,
    and have now revealed to me what we asked of you,
    for you have revealed to us what the king ordered.
  • I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
    I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
  • Teach me your way, O Lord,
    that I may walk in your truth;
    give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
  • Glory to God in the highest heaven,
    and on earth peace among those whom he favors!
  • But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you.

Also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.
