- Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve.
- For the carved images of the nations are powerless;
they are nothing more than wood cut from a forest,
fashioned with a knife by craftsmen
and embellished with silver and gold.
Then they are fastened with hammers and nails
to prevent them from toppling.
Like scarecrows in a cucumber field
they are unable to speak,
and they must be carried from place to place
since they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they can do no harm,
nor do they have any power to do good. - While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”
- You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.

because he has anointed me
to bring the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to prisoners
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free. - One day, as Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the Sabbath, his disciples began to pick some heads of grain as they walked along. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?”
He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the sacred bread that only the priests were permitted to eat, and he shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” - When they arrest you and bring you to trial, do not be concerned beforehand about what you are to say. Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit.
- When God saw by their actions that they had turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not inflict upon them the punishment that he had threatened.
- If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.
- Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ.
- For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world
but in order that the world might be saved through him. - God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
- However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all
that I have said to you. - After he had decided to follow this course of action, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary into your home as your wife. For this child has been conceived in her womb through the Holy Spirit.”
- God is faithful, and it is by him that you have been called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Then, after he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and there he took his place at the right hand of God.
- He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
- Through him all things came into existence,
and without him there was nothing.
That which came to be. - Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.
- May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
- You will again show us compassion
and wash away our guilt;
you will cast all our sins
into the depths of the sea.
God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him.If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
