- So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
- But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth. - Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
- Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
- But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God.
Do not forget the helpless. - Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
- Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
- Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
- Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
- Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
- Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
- When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong.
- I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
- Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
- Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
- Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
- Do not turn to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil. - If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
- Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
- I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
