- O Lord, I have come to you for protection;
don’t let me be disgraced.
Save me, for you do what is right. - So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
- Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
- Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
- And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
- Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me.
Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.
- Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
- Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.
- When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
- You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
- The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning. - But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation. - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever. - The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever. - So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
- Such people will not be overcome by evil.
Those who are righteous will be long remembered. - My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever. - Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.
- Your laws are my treasure;
they are my heart’s delight. - The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
- And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
