- The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all.
- This is
‘the stone rejected by you, the builders,
that has become the cornerstone.’ - And God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the wild animals and reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
- The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
- The name of the Lord is a tower of strength;
the upright man runs to it and finds refuge. - And learn to do good.
Pursue justice and rescue the oppressed;
listen to the plea of the orphan
and defend the widow. - Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he protects the souls of his faithful ones
and rescues them from the hand of the wicked. - The misfortunes of the righteous man are many,
but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. - Blessed is the man whom God reproves.
Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. - There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - The face of the Lord is turned against those who do evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth. - Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
- Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
the Creator of all. - The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.
- Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
and he will never allow the guilty
to escape punishment.
He makes his way in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust beneath his feet. - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. - Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment.
- Above his head was inscribed the charge against him: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
- May the favor of the Lord, our God, rest upon us.
And may the work of our hands prosper—
indeed, may the work of our hands prosper. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools are those who despise wisdom and instruction. - For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want.
- I will place my rainbow in the clouds and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- God blessed them and told them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth; subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the seas and over the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.”
