- For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live.”
- The unfolding of your words gives light;
it imparts understanding to the simple. - But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength. - Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
- For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. - Return, faithless Israel,
declares the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
declares the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
from ancient days. - A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - All day long he craves and craves,
but the righteous gives and does not hold back. - And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?
- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
- The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives. - Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good,
and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. - That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
- God settles the solitary in a home;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious dwell in a parched land. - A man's gift makes room for him
and brings him before the great. - Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
- May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace! - Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.
- You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
