Life after death (4/4)

  • For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have preserved my life.
  • Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
  • As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
  • Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
  • The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
  • But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
  • It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.
  • The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
  • By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
  • Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
  • And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
  • You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
  • This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
  • Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
  • The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
  • Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life,
but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
  • For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
  • I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
  • But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  • But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
