- As for me, I do not regard my life as of any value, only that I finish the race and complete the mission that I received from the Lord Jesus—to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace.
- I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world. - Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For it is on him
that God the Father has set his seal. - I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - During the day the Lord grants his kindness,
and at night his praise is with me,
a prayer to the living God. - We also know
that the Son of God has come
and given us understanding
so that we can know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
since we are in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life. - Hence, as sin’s reign resulted in death, so the grace of God also might reign through righteousness resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Surely God is my helper;
the Lord is the one who sustains me. - This is the conclusion I have reached: it is fitting for a man to eat and drink and find satisfaction in the results of his labors under the sun during the brief span of life that God has allotted him.
- Hence, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
- There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - Jesus addressed them once again, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
The one who follows me
will never walk in darkness.
Rather, he will have the light of life.” - And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- He who guards his mouth makes his life secure,
but one who talks excessively ensures his own downfall. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but cherish my commandments in your heart,
for they will bring you length of days,
more years of life, and an abundance of prosperity. - The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life.
- Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life. Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels.
- Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. - Indeed, persecution will afflict all who want to lead a godly life in Christ Jesus.
- What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
- Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your noble confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.
- But whoever drinks the water that I will give him
will never be thirsty.
The water that I will give him
will become a spring of water within him
welling up to eternal life. - I give them eternal life,
and they will never perish.
No one will ever snatch them from my hand.
My Father who has given them to me
is greater than all,
and no one can snatch them
out of the Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one. - Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom.
- Banish grief from your heart
and ignore the sufferings of your body,
for youth and the prime of life are fleeting.
