- My son, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
Let them not escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart. - And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
- So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. - Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life. - And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.
- And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
- And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
- When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all offenses. - And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.
- Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
- But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
- Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
- He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds. - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.
- The vine dries up;
the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
all the trees of the field are dried up,
and gladness dries up
from the children of man. - And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
- A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. - And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
- Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
