Living stone (2/3)

  • As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing.
  • You shall observe the Sabbath by keeping it holy, as the Lord, your God, has commanded you. You are to labor on six days, doing all of your work then. The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, your God. You shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor your cattle, nor even the foreigner living in your town. Thus your manservant and maidservant can rest as well.
  • Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord.
  • If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.
  • I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
  • If it seems wrong to you to serve the Lord, then today you must choose whom you will serve, whether it be the gods that your fathers served on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites who dwell in the land. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
  • What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer?
  • As a result, you are no longer strangers and foreigners. Rather, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.
  • Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing,
but a righteous life brings delivery from death.
  • As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
  • I will praise you in sincerity of heart
as I ponder your righteous judgments.
  • You can eat any water creature that has fins and scales; those you can eat. Whatever does not have fins or scales, you are not to eat. It is unclean for you.
  • Rather, let justice flow like a river,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
  • Riches will be of no avail on the day of wrath,
    but righteousness delivers from death.
  • God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God.
  • If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.
  • You will show me the path to life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence
and everlasting delights at your right hand.
  • If we claim that we have fellowship with him
while we continue to live in darkness,
we are lying and do not live in the truth.
  • The precepts of the Lord are right,
    causing the heart to rejoice.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
    giving light to the eyes.
  • Moses remained with the Lord for forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments, on the tablets.
  • Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom.
  • However, if we live in the light
as he himself is in the light,
then we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus his Son
    purifies us from all sin.
  • At the time that discipline is received, it always seems painful rather than pleasant, but afterward it yields a harvest of peace and uprightness to those who have been trained by it.
  • Turn away from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
  • The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
    a warrior and a savior.
He will rejoice over you with gladness
and renew you through his love.
He will exult over you with shouts of joy.

His divine power has bestowed on us everything that is necessary for life and for devotion through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue.
