| With my soul I have desired you in the night. | But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” | He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” |
| For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them. | For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. |
| Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. | Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly. |
| It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. | It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. |
| God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him. | Yes, God will bless us, and people all over the world will fear him. |
| He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God. | And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. |
| A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. | Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people! |
| There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don’t withhold. | Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give! |
| Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Yahweh’s law. | Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. |
| Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? | The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? |
| The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. | Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. |
| Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. | People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart. |
| With all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints. | Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. |
| So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone. | So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. |
| Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. | Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. |
| Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. | When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. |
| He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him. | He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. |
