Chinese (traditional)- When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways.
- I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where will I receive help?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him?
- A gentle reply turns away wrath,
but a harsh word arouses anger. - Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to distribute among the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Then they gathered up what was left over—twelve baskets of fragments.
- Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where they will be destroyed by moth and rust and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up treasure for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves cannot break in and steal.
- Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
- And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
- And opens the eyes of those who cannot see.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous. - How great is your goodness, O Lord,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you,
in the presence of all the people. - While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”
- At dawn let me experience your kindness,
for in you I place my trust.
Show me the path I must walk,
for to you I lift up my soul. - And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.
- The Lord said to Moses, “Climb up to me on the mountain and remain there. I will give you stone tablets with the laws and commandments that I have written for their instruction.”
- And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their deeds, as were recorded in the scrolls. The sea gave up all the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them. The dead were judged according to their deeds.
- Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
- But whoever drinks the water that I will give him
will never be thirsty.
The water that I will give him
will become a spring of water within him
welling up to eternal life. - He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - Therefore, encourage one another and strengthen one another, as indeed you are doing.
- He is the head of the body,
that is, the Church.
He is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead,
so that in every way
he should be supreme. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich,
he humbles and he also exalts. - For the entire Law can be summed up in a single commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing.Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
