Who “will render to each one according to his deeds” | For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve. |
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. | Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. |
|
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. | Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good. |
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. | Bless those who persecute you; bless them and do not curse them. |
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. | Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. |
For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” | Indeed, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” |
Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. | Do not be lacking in zeal, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor. |
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. | Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. |
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. | As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone. |
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. | Be joyful in your hope. Be patient in times of affliction. Persevere in prayer. |
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | So then, faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ. |
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” | As Scripture asserts, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.” |
Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. | Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up. |
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. | Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good. |
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. | But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience. |
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. | The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God. |
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. | No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us. |
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. | At the appointed time, while we were still helpless, Christ died for the ungodly. |
Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. | Love cannot result in any harm to the neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the Law. |
Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. | Welcome anyone whose faith is weak, but do not get into arguments about doubts. |
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God. | Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you. |
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! | What then? Should we sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Of course not! |
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. | For Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for the justification of all who believe. |
