for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love,
and relents from punishing. - I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
- Keep straight the path of your feet,
and all your ways will be sure. - Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
- Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you. - Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm;
for love is strong as death,
passion fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
a raging flame. - If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
- Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over the transgression
of the remnant of your possession?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in showing clemency. - For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. - For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness extends to the clouds.
