And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. | So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. |

Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? | Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? |
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. |
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. | Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. |

How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. | They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. |
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. | And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. |
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. | Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil. |
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. | I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation.
