- Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.

Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. - The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you.
- Don’t long for “the good old days.”
This is not wise. - You are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope. - You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
- But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him. - But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
- When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;

for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. - And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.

I traded their lives for yours

You are honored, and I love you. - The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
- When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it.
- O Lord, I will honor and praise your name,
for you are my God.
You do such wonderful things!
You planned them long ago,
