Bible Verses about 'Wants'

  • Then he sat down, summoned the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must become the last of all and the servant of all.”
  • This must not be so with you. Instead, whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your servant.
  • Indeed, persecution will afflict all who want to lead a godly life in Christ Jesus.
  • He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
  • For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the sake of the gospel will save it.
  • Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
  • Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
  • Jesus replied,
“This is the work of God:
to believe in the one whom he has sent.”
  • For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

    comes to the light
so that it may be clearly seen

  • The powerful suffer want and go hungry,
but those who seek the Lord want for no good thing.
  • Such godly sorrow results in repentance that leads to salvation and causes no regret, whereas worldly sorrow produces death.

  • However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
  • You want something that you cannot have, so you commit murder. And you covet something but cannot obtain it, so you engage in quarrels and fights. You do not have because you do not ask.
  • Prepare in advance what you want to say,

Say to him, “Take away all guilt
and give us what is good,
so that we may present as offerings
    the bullocks from our stalls.”
  • I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love so that they may grow rich in their complete understanding as they come to the knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ.

And now, brethren, I want to remind you of the gospel I proclaimed to you, which you received and in which you stand firm. Through it you are also being saved, provided that you are holding fast to what I proclaimed to you. If not, then you have believed in vain.
