- For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
- And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
- So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
- I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there. - For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.
- And yet, O Lord, you are our Father.
We are the clay, and you are the potter.
We all are formed by your hand. - Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.
- The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens,
while its foundation is on the earth.
He draws up water from the oceans
and pours it down as rain on the land.
The Lord is his name! - When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
- And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.
- And forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us. - But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
- Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
- Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
- But when you had eaten and were satisfied,
you became proud and forgot me. - Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
- Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
- But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
- This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
- But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
- Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
- For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
