- For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
- Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker. - And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
- Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
- Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
- Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.
- Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.
- Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
- You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.
- Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship.
He said,
“I came naked from my mother’s womb,
and I will be naked when I leave.
The Lord gave me what I had,
and the Lord has taken it away.
Praise the name of the Lord!” - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you. - And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.
- All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
- I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him? - But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
- We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. - For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
- For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? - For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? - Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
- In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - For the word of God will never fail.
- For,
There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. - God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God. - I praise God for what he has promised.
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?
As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me.Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom;
