- Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
- The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value. - Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
- For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips
and spreads slander is a fool. - I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips. - I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. - Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
- In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears. - If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
- And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
- For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
- The Lord detests lying lips,
but he delights in people who are trustworthy. - I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’
- In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.” - They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
- I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts. - After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
- You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
- Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
