Strength (2/2)

  • It was not by their sword that they won the land,
    nor did their arm bring them victory;
    it was your right hand, your arm,
    and the light of your face, for you loved them.
  • For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
  • For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
  • You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
    A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
  • Wealth and honor come from you;
    you are the ruler of all things.
    In your hands are strength and power
    to exalt and give strength to all.
  • Who has done this and carried it through,
    calling forth the generations from the beginning?
    I, the Lord—with the first of them
    and with the last—I am he.
  • The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
    in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.
  • His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
  • I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • I will strengthen Judah
    and save the tribes of Joseph.
    I will restore them
    because I have compassion on them.
    They will be as though
    I had not rejected them,
    for I am the Lord their God
    and I will answer them.
  • The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
  • To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
