Chinese (traditional)He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver, nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity. Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all wrongs. Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Do the things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me, and the God of peace will be with you. Why do you set your eyes on that which is not?
For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky. He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? He said to them, “Don’t be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him!” In my distress I called on Yahweh,
and cried to my God.
He heard my voice out of his temple.
My cry before him came into his ears. They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.” Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. Don’t be wise in your own eyes.
Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
It will be health to your body,
and nourishment to your bones. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. If you love me, keep my commandments. A fool despises his father’s correction,
but he who heeds reproof shows prudence. He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.Next verse! With image
