- Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
- So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
- And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
- Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
- Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
- For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
- Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
- So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” - Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.” - No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
