For Yahweh takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation. | For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. |

Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your loving kindness, and for your truth’s sake. | Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. |
Yahweh makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. | The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. |
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase. | Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. |
Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’ or your work, ‘He has no hands’? | Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? |
Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker. | O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. |
Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. |
If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. |
It shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away. | Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. |
Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. What is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him? | What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? |
Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were. | Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. |
Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ | After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. |
Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. | Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. |
Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger. | Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger. |
Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither is one who is sent greater than he who sent him. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. |
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. | Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ | And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. |
