| And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. | And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. |

| For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. | Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. |
| He must increase, but I must decrease. | He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. |
| Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. | This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! |
| For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. | God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. |
| But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ. | Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. |
| I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. | Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. |

| Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. | Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do. |
| He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” | Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” |
| But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). | But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) |

So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. |

| For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. | For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. |
| If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. | If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. |
