If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. | But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. |
And now, brethren, farewell. Mend your ways. Encourage one another. Be of one mind and live in peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. | Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, mend your ways, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. |

Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. | Do not worry about your life, as to what you are to eat; nor for your body, as to what you are to wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. |
Jesus addressed them once again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness. Rather, he will have the light of life.” | Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” |
For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: If you seek me, you will survive. | For this is what the Lord says to the house of Israel: “Seek Me so that you may live.” |
I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent. | Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. |
For thus says the One who is high and exalted, who lives eternally and whose name is holy: I dwell in a high and holy place but I am with the contrite and the humble, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite. | For this is what the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, says: “I dwell in a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.” |
You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine. | So you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have singled you out from the peoples to be Mine. |
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it. | The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who live in it. |
The Lord redeems the lives of those who serve him; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. | The Lord redeems the souls of His servants, And none of those who take refuge in Him will suffer for their guilt. |
This is the end of my teaching. All has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for that is the responsibility of everyone. | The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. |
Teach me your ways, O Lord, so that I may walk in your truth; let me worship your name with an undivided heart. | Teach me Your way, Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. |
You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people. | As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive. |
I am pulled in opposite directions. My desire is to depart and to be with Christ, for that is far better, but, it is a more urgent need for you that I remain in the body. | But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sakes. |
Through him all things came into existence, and without him there was nothing. That which came to be. | All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. |

By his own choice he gave us birth through the way of truth so that we may be a kind of firstfruits of all his creation. | In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. |
For we will become partners with Christ only if we maintain firmly until the end the confidence we originally had. | For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end. |
For the love of Christ urges us forward, once we conclude that one has died for all, and therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for him who for their sakes died and was raised to life. | For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf. |
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us. | Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us. |
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. | For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, this is the one who will save it. |
His divine power has bestowed on us everything that is necessary for life and for devotion through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue. | For His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. |
The proud man’s heart is not upright, but the righteous man will live because of his faith. | Behold, as for the impudent one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous one will live by his faith. |
Go forth, then. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God long ago approved what you do. | Go then, eat your bread in happiness, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works. |
He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.” | But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” |
