- Such hope will not be doomed to disappointment, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

and sees a brother in need
but refuses to open his heart,
how can the love of God abide in him? - This is the commandment
we have received from him:
whoever loves God
must also love his brother. - As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. - However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
- Let your face shine upon your servant;
save me in your kindness. - Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
- Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase.
- For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me;
may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever.
