- The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in kindness. - During the day the Lord grants his kindness,
and at night his praise is with me,
a prayer to the living God. - Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself;
thus my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life;
with uplifted hands I will call on your name. - You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
- In view of all this, you should make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with piety, and piety with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love.
- If I give away everything to feed the poor
and hand over my body to be burned,
but do not have love,
I achieve nothing. - But as for you, man of God, you must shun all this. Rather, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, fortitude, and gentleness.
- And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.
- For from the beginning
you have heard the message
that we should love one another. - When I realized that my foot was slipping,
your kindness, O Lord, raised me up. - Beloved,
since God loved us so much,
we should love one another. - Let mutual love continue, and do not forget to offer hospitality to strangers, for by doing this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
- Although the mountains may be shaken
and the hills may totter,
my steadfast love will not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace will never be shaken,
says the Lord who has compassion on you. - Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.
Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. - He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
- Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. - For your kindness extends to the heavens;
your faithfulness, to the skies. - If you love me,
you will keep my commandments. - I give you a new commandment:
love one another.
Just as I have loved you,
so you should also love one another. - No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us.
- O Lord, you are kind and forgiving,
filled with kindness for all who cry to you. - We know that God makes all things work together for good for those who love him and who are called according to his purpose.
- Anyone who has received my commandments
and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. - God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. - This is how everyone will know
that you are my disciples:
if you love one another.
Such hope will not be doomed to disappointment, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water.Next verse!With image
